Onkyo HT-S5200 7.1-Channel Home Entertainment Receiver/Speaker Package with iPod Dock (Black)

The unit puts out quite a bit of heat, and I wish the bass was "punchier." But I can't complain. Assigning inputs is straightforward and the performance is outstanding. I researched home theater systems before purchasing this one and the reviews were right on target. I have not been disappointed. Using the self-setup (Audyssey) really brought the system to life. Do not judge the sound until you run the self-setup. The difference is night and day!

I'd never heard of Onkyo, but this product has made me a believer in the brand.

ONKYO REALLY GOT THIS AUDIO SOUND QUALITY THING PACKED DOWN. I PURCHASED THIS SYSTEM A FEW WEEKS AGO TO COMPLIMENT A SONY BRAVIA THAT I WAS PURCHASING AS WELL. THIS SYSTEM HANDS DOWN BLEW ME AWAY JUST FROM THE SOUND QUALITY ALONE. EVERYTHING SOUNDS CRYSTAL CLEAR OUT OF THIS SYSTEM. THE SET UP WAS QUICK, AND EASY NO PROBLEMS AT ALL AS FAR AS GETTING THIS THING PUT TOGETHER, AND PLAYING. IT TOOK A TOTAL OF MAYBE 45 MINUTES TOPS TO GET IT UP AND RUNNING, BUT THEN I AM A ELECTRONICS FREAK ANYWAY, BUT SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM FOR MOST (EASY TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS). I USED A DIGITAL OPTICAL CABLE FOR MY CONNECTION, WORKS GREAT. I LOVE THE FACT THAT IT HAS AN IPOD DOCK THAT COMES WITH IT, MOST MY MUSIC IS LOADED ON MY IPOD ANYWAY, I CAN CREATE A PLAYLIST AND JUST SIT BACK AND ENJOY. THIS IS MY FIRST ONKYO PURCHASE, AND I AM BLOWN AWAY FROM THE SOUND QUALITY,AND THE SLEEK LOOK, WHICH COMPLIMENTS MY SONY BRAVIA WELL. I READ ALL THE REVIEWS FOR THIS SYSTEM AND DID A LITTLE HOMEWORK, AND COMPARISONS BEFORE I MADE THIS PURCHASE. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A BOSE FAN, BUT OPTED TO TRY SOMETHING NEW, AND I AM GLAD THAT I DID. TRUE 7.1 SURROUND SOUND WHEN I PLAYED MY BLU-RAY DISC, PS3, AND WII. UNIVERSAL REMOTE WAS EASY TO PROGRAM, AND CONTROLS ALL OF MY ELECTRONICS. THIS SYSTEM MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE IN THE ACTUAL MOVIE. THE SUB WOOFER IS GREAT, U CAN FEEL THE VIBRATIONS OF EVERY EXPLOSION. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HTS TO ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR A SYSTEM TO PURCHASE.. GREAT BUY AT A REASONABLE PRICE. WORTH EVERY PENNY........

Very easy installation, love this testing microphone letting you reach the best sound quality automatically. You just have to know that if you use 5 of 7 speakers,(front and back only) your REAR BACK speakers must be out of picture otherwise your Onkio will generate SP ERROR.
I'm very happy with my choice.

I like my Onkyo system a lot. It makes "normal" TV sound like I am at the Movie Theatre. Setup was a little difficult in that I could not run the wires for the speakers under my carpet. The fish tape would get all balled up about 3/4 of the way through, so I had to go into the crawl space and drill holes and run the wires under the house, but it was worth the effort. It was a great deal for the money.

There does not seem to be a way to record from my DVR through the unit from my Satelite Receiver whith just the HDMI hook ups, so I will have to go and add the Composite hookups.

I thought I would be getting a really good deal but as usual, I did not. The subwoofer rattles and I'm getting almost no surround effect. I would not purchase this item again and If I had the original packaging I would ship it back.
