1080P NOT AVAILABLE!
This is a great receiver, but it has one major draw back. It is only capable of sending up to 720p or 1080i. There is no option for 1080p. This is a huge problem if you own a television with 1080p. You will have to send the HDMI directly to the TV and the sound to the receiver through a separate optical cable. It kind of ruins the point of having HDMI built into the receiver. I was not aware of this when I purchased this receiver or I would have purchased something else.

HDMI Malfunction
Purchased 607 from Amazon in November and now having trouble with HDMI ports as others are. Totally unable to get new Sony Blue-ray to do more than sound and wavy lines on screen no matter what port is used. Guess this will be a $50 (for shipping to service center) lesson in poor product performance. As Admiral Ackbar said,"It's a trap!"

Typical Onkyo crap
Well to start I got this item for Xmas 2009 - purchased all the needed accessories such as new HDMI cables, speaker wire etc. To produce a nice quality entertainment atmosphere. After spending a good couple of hours running the wire and getting it up and running, the hardest part were the idiotic surround sound speaker connections (red/black ) on back of unit. Between twisting and turning these moronic connections for the cable wire bristles to connect to and being so close together was a total pain in the @ss. What happened to the connectors you just pinch and enter or simple RCA type connections? Well after about 5 months I lost the HDMI signal for the cable/satellite source - simply put to watch cable tv. When I would switch functions like "CD" back to "cable/sat" my TV would display a black screen no picture with just the audio coming from cable box. This also became an issue to watch "DVD" movies and the signal was lost for that too. After wasting time switching around HDMI cables and resetting/rebooting the receiver no luck Called ONKYO and the had me ship it to a service center where after almost 2 months I was told there was a HDMI issue on the motherboard or something with the "C1" circuit board. They tested it said it worked and shipped it back. After spending a good amount of time connecting the idiotic speaker connections and the HDMI plugs I was back to square 1. No HDMI signal - black picture with audio. Called ONKYO again and they suggested to ship to their Syracuse location and of course they expected me to pick up the shipping charges which would probably be around 50.00 bucks. All considering I got a lemon and this is how ONKYO repays me. I WILL NEVER BUY ONKYO CRAP AGAIN. THIS UNIT IS GARBAGE.

Bad product out of box. Bad service.
Out of box only one (#3) of five HDMI inputs work. It is a defective product. Unfortunately because i did not install immediately due to anticipated move and a new TV and couple of new speakers. Onkyo has the worst custoemr service I've experienced, they refused to pay service shipping.
the worst product ever bought! No more onkyo for me.

Awesome Receiver but some bugs to work out
The onkyo receiver is one of the most versatile decks I have ever used. The only issue is the sound thru HDMI to the tv input causes some quirky things to happen but usually it fixes it self after a while.
